ARGERA stocks a range of medical grade skincare that is priced to suit nearly any budget. The specialised ranges use the highest quality ingredients and treat a variety of skin disorders, as well as prevent ageing. These ranges cannot be bought from supermarkets or pharmacies but only from Cosmetic Medical Clinics. They are comparative in price to a “good” over the counter cream but are actually proven to work. In fact, the most expensive cream at ARGERA is $160, which has 100% active ingredients, unlike similar priced over the counter creams from Myers where the main ingredient is water. With ARGERA’s highly concentrated products you only need to use pea-sized amounts daily and so they should last 4 to 6 months, with serums often lasting longer. This makes them truly economical.
Dr Argie attends national and international conferences regularly looking for the latest and most effective treatments, techniques and medical grade skincare. Products chosen are then trialed on herself, her family and the staff at ARGERA. If found effective, the products are then stocked. Dr Argie believes in “practicing what one preaches” and only uses on her patients what she herself would use. Her belief is that the ARGERA operates to restore and help maintain a patient’s appearance but it is what a patient does at home to protect their investment that counts.
Dr Argie’s advice to patients on skincare is to keep it simple. Every patient, regardless of age, sex or skin colour, needs two essential products. Her theory is this:
- Protect in morning with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Protection is from the sun, which burns hotter in Australia due to the thinner ozone layer, and the fact that the Sun is closer to Australia in Earth’s orbit around it. The sun emits UVB rays, which damage the more superficial layers of the skin whilst UVA rays effects are deeper. SPF recognizes only UVB rays and thus an effective sunscreen must be broad-spectrum to prevent UVA and UVB damage. The advent of invisible zinc has seen the creation of high-grade cosmetic medical sunscreens that have the active ingredients zinc oxide or titanium dioxide but with effective moisturizers that make the ideal morning cream. ARGERA now stocks sunscreens that have been shown to reverse some of the sun damage seen in early skin cancers.
- Repair at night with a medical grade night cream, gel or serum. This product should always have a form of vitamin A, vitamin C, AHA and moisturizers such as vitamin E or hyaluronic acid. In addition other ingredients may include niacinamide, DMAE, copper peptides, growth factors and various other ingredients. Remember it’s the medical strengths that are needed for results.
Others medical strength creams, cleansers and serums can be added if the patient so desires or if they have additional skin problems that need addressing such as rosacea or acne.
