Excess Underarm Sweating - Hyperhidrosis

What is hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term used to describe excess sweating. This most commonly occurs in the axilla (armpit), hands, face and feet. It is caused primarily by an over stimulation of the nervous system resulting in signals being sent to the affected glands to release sweat. Triggers for this include anxiety, stress, food and emotion. People who suffer this condition find themselves being unable to wear modern synthetic fabrics and having to change their clothes repeatedly throughout the day. For businessmen, hyperhidrosis at times of deal making can be interpreted as having something to hide, making the condition not only embarrassing but also potentially costly. Past treatments have included Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS), which has the risk of worsening sweating in another area as a compensatory effect, and more commonly used wrinkle relaxer products. The latest technology is the Ulthera® (Ultherapy) which can permanently reduce sweating by up to 80% in only two treatments.

What is Ulthera (Ultherapy) for hyperhidrosis

Ultherapy for hyperhidrosis is a procedure that focuses ultrasound waves into the superficial layers of the underarm skin where the sweat gland lives. By heating the gland it can be damaged and ultimately destroyed. The results to date have shown that in only 2 treatments that underarm sweating can be reduced by up to 80%, and so far these results have lasted over 3 years with the body not making new sweat glands to replace the damaged ones. This is rapidly becoming a very popular treatment worldwide for those who suffer from excess underarm sweating and those who just prefer not to sweat as much in this area. The process is simple, with minimal discomfort, no downtime and only takes a couple of hours.

What is wrinkle relaxer therapy for hyperhidrosis?

Wrinkle relaxer products can work superficially on the sweat glands to reduce sweating and are particularly good for the axilla (underarms) and hands. They are fast, simple and effective, but are not a permanent remedy. They have however become the treatment of choice for most patients, with results lasting on average from 6 to 9 months. Many patients who continue treatments may find that the results last longer. Hyperhidrosis treatments are more expensive than wrinkle treatments since higher amounts of products are needed to cover the greater surface area of the axilla, so be wary of excessively low priced treatments as you will be paying for ineffectual doses that will not provide maximal longevity.

How is Argera different?

ARGERA regularly treats patients for axilla hyperhidrosis. Our patients include SAS soldiers, elite athletes, young men who weight train but because of their sweating problems can not show their results in tight modern synthetic tops, brides, models, business men and women and housewives. Our wrinkle relaxer treatment uses the maximum recommended doses and includes a free top up 3 weeks later, if needed for any breakthrough sweating. Many of our patients make hyperhidrosis treatment a part of their yearly beauty maintenance with treatment occurring in the Spring and early Summer months. We are also now able to offer the Ulthera hyperhidrosis treatment with some of our staff being the first patients in Perth to take advantage of it. ARGERA’s hyperhidrosis treatments are one of the most affordable and best value in Perth.
